Description:

School Project

This was a project created during my third year at Sheridan College as part of a school assignment. This was a capture-the-flag (CTF) level which was made using the Unreal Engine – specifically, the Unreal Tournament Editor. My job was to design the level and make it in the engine.

Project Type:

School Project

Project Duration:

September 2021 to December 2021

Roles:

Level Designer; 3D Modeler;

Software Used:

Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Illustrator; Unreal Engine;

I started by designing a rough draft of the level in Photoshop. The image on the left shows the layout from above, while the image on the right signifies the general elevation.

Using that design, I created another rough layout of how the buildings would be placed in the level.

I then worked on the beat map in Illustrator to define the level of difficulty players should experience at certain moments during gameplay.

Once the beat map was completed, I started working in the Unreal Tournament Editor

I added some rubble to the level for decoration, to match the aesthetic I intended the level to have.

Here is the work-in-progress (WIP) version of the level, as seen from above.

Here is the final version of the level, fully textured.

Here is the result.
